“An honest assessment might point to a tendecy on the part of us homeschooling families to get caught up in proving ourselves and our choice to home educate. Certainly, our kids are just as smart, just as talented, and just as capable as their traditionally educated counterparts.

We must be careful that we do not become so immersed in developing our children’s more obvious, performance-oriented gifts that we neglect to notice and nurture the greater gifts. Developing our children’s character – the often overlooked gifts like mercy, persistence, and generosity – is a much greater task. It is the ‘heart work’ of parenting. This should be our primary focus from the beginning, and it will carry us through the journey.” – Rebecca Ingram Powell

Amen! No easy job either with some successes and failures that will always haunt us.
