Elizabeth’s first (unfortunate) haircut
We were hanging out at my parent’s house tonight, celebrating my Mom’s birthday. All is quiet and my Mom wisely goes in to check on the girls. She comes out of their bedroom and says “I think someone just got a haircut”.
Indeed.
Mary Claire took it upon herself to give Elizabeth her very first haircut. Okay, try to imagine a bowl cut and a mullet put together. That’s what it looked like. BAAAADDD. Unfortunately we didn’t have a camera to get the masterpiece-in-progress. My Mom hacked off the mullet part – the long in the back bit – and I’m desperately wishing for a 24 hour hair salon right about now.
Here’s what Elizabeth’s hair used to look like, full on the sides with a long bang that could be pulled back:
See how we used to be able to put it in a pony tail?
Check out the back now and weep with me:
And here is the bowl. The cock-eyed bowl of a cut with big hunks of bangs missing.
The worst part, besides the hack job of the haircut itself, is that we all burst out laughing when we saw it rather than sternly scold Mary Claire. Probably because Elizabeth came dancing into the room singing “I’m pretty! Look at me Mommy, I’m pretty!” Who can properly scold a four-year-old when there is a mullet waving in the breeze?
It actually doesn’t look too bad. It looks like she has a bob now. The bang part will take a while to grow back, but your daughter is so cute she can pull of any haircut!
Actually, I think she looks adorable! I was just thinking the other day when you posted about Mary Claire wanting to help scrub the floors and changing into a bathing suit to do it, how much fun it was to have two little girls. Now the haircut! Enjoy the adventures…it goes so fast. Now I have a girl at U of M and the baby turns 17 on Thursday…just the memories :)
I think the length is kind of cute too. But it’s definitely a butcher job. We are going to get it “fixed” soon. I wish you could have seen it before my mom cut the back and tried to fix the sides! Stacey your girls are great and I know you must have great memories with them. Candee let’s get our girls together soon. I will hide the scissorss.
Oh, girl, don’t any of you have a camera phone?!?!? A “before” certainly would have been a plus, but I have to agree, even the unfixed “after” looks cute on her.
And those camping pic, where were you? It looks just like the place we just camped.
I know, I have to learn how to upload photos from it to my pc. We were camping in Manistee, but really, don’t all campgrounds look the same (ie, dirty?). We had fun though.
Actually, Mary Claire did a better job than my last cut! And I paid for mine!!
Oh no Chris! Your hair always looks cute though. But MC might open a shop in the next year or two.
