I Found It!

Ladies, I am standing on the proverbial rooftop, screaming from the mountain top, dancing the jig of all jigs!

I have FINALLY found a mascara that I absolutely, completely, no complaints-in-any-way LOVE.

My life will never be the same.

I can’t tell you how many different tubes and brands of mascara I’ve been through over the years.  I had a love affair with Max Factor 2000 calorie until they stopped making it in the U.S.  But honestly, this one surpasses it.   The Max Factor was the boyfriend you thought you loved until you met your husband and knew what real love was.

Here it is!  I’m serenading it with sweet songs and kisses even as I write.

L’Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Technology

I first read about this mascara in Paula Begoun’s book Don’t Go To the Cosmetics Counter Without Me.  If you haven’t taken a look at that book, it’s so worth it.  A new edition is printed every year (I believe) so grab yourself a coffee at Barnes and Noble someday and take a notebook with you.  She and her team test nearly every product out on the market and give their reviews.  Whenever I’m in need of a major makeup overhaul I spend some time with the book first.  For the most part I have agreed with her reviews and think she’s saved me major money over the years.

Now back to my beloved.

The mascara is a two-parter.  On one side of the tube is white stuff they call primer.  You put it on your lashes with the wand.  Next you use the actual mascara (no need to let the white stuff dry before putting on the mascara).  The directions say to do one eye at a time.  Here’s what I’m loving about this stuff:

*  It dries quickly.

*  It doesn’t smudge over time.  I already have dark circles under my eyes and through the course of the day they were always worsened by the mascara.  This stuff doesn’t smudge AT ALL.

*  I can even nap with it on and I wake up looking exactly the same.  At the end of the night my eyelashes look exactly the same as first thing in the morning.  MIRACLE people.

*  To take it off, you don’t need eye makeup remover.  You just use water to wet your eyelashes and it comes off.  And when it’s off, it’s off.  There is no need to clean up under your eyes with makeup remover.

I was hesitant to try the mascara at first because they use the word “tube”, as in tubes on your lashes.    I was picturing big and thick fake looking lashes.  Not so.  My eyelashes look like they have regular mascara on them.

As nitpicky as I can be, I still can find nothing bad to say about this stuff after a week of using it.

L’Oreal, you are my hero.

    L’oreal should throw you some kick back as I just bought it too because of your post. Going to try it tomorrow because I am sick of the smudges!
