The Prayers of the Desperate
2010 November 2
Mary Claire’s friend, a frequent dinner guest, is over and about to eat with us. Bob asks her to pray for our food. She says yes, then bows her head, clasping her hands tightly together as she prays earnestly:
“Dear, Dear God: Thank you for my friends and that we can all eat together. And please, please God, let it taste good this time”.

Seriously?
Yes! Bob and I both left the room because we were laughing so hard.
Hilarious! Reminds me of the time I took Lauren to get her haircut when she was about 6 or 7. When Mr. Richard asked her how she wanted it cut, she replied,”Just do a good job. Mom said you did a bad job last time.” Talk about wanting the floor to open and swallow me up! :)
Oh no! I can totally picture the embarassment from that one.
Soooooooooo funny!
Pam, I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your blog! I wouldn’t take the critique too seriously though…. children don’t have the sophisticated flavor palette required for some dishes.
Thanks Tamora! You just never know what they are going to like. This meal, which I was SURE was going to be a flop, they devoured.
That is hysterical, I also read recently that we grow new taste buds every 10 days so that is now what I am telling my kids when they are told that they need to at least try a bite before they tell me that they don’t like it, and now I am making sure that each “new” meal gets prepared and served a good 10 days from the last time:)
oooh, good tip Marie! I’ll have to use that line. It’s funny because they devoured this dinner, which was a shrimp and brown rice stir fry that I made with sesame seed oil. I thought for sure that would be a bust!
Oh!!! That is GREAT!!!! :-D
hilarious!!
